Proud to Present - My Almost Finished Bathroom

In my previous apartment, I did not have a linen closet so I bought this  glass shelving that fit over the toilet and gave me a place to put my towels, etc. After I bought my condo, I not only had built in shelving inside the bathroom but also discovered this big ole thing would not fit in the same spot as it had previously.  So I put it over the hamper and haphazardly decorated it. This "Before" picture is how it looked for almost three years.

And as they say, out with the old and in with the new.....oh...that doesn't really apply..... this is all from garage and church sales and Goodwill.  Okay, out with the stuff you were given as a secret santa gift, a present from an aunt you haven't seen since you were 5 and your first attempt at decorating a wicker basket.  In with the square wicker baskets, seashells, pitchers, flowers, more flowers, a seashell picture frame with the best beach picture you've ever taken, chimes, shampoos, conditioners and lotions from your favorite vacation hotels and any other treasure you've dug out of your "loot box."  Without being too graphic, sitting on my throne will make you smile, if you know what I mean.  Teehee.

Shampoo & conditioners from hotels everywhere.

The pictures below are of the opposite wall in the bathroom - the wall with the throne and sink.

What should I do with the cabinet? Paint it white, paint it a different color or leave it alone? And how about the walls?  Sea blue or bright white? Let me know what you think.

As always, thank you for spending time reading my blog and please vote on the poll shown on the side of this posting.

  1. Hi Barbara,
OK well first things first you asked for opinions...paint that cabinet and the walls! You have a great start on everything else here but now you need to bring it all together to give it a seamless look. Just remember this mantra...Paint is our friend:)

About you post on BNOTP, you are right, Villa Montalvo is absolutely beautiful...I was married there in 1979:) Born and raised in San Jose, Calif. :)

  2. Paint cabinet white & walls sea blue is my vote. Good luck! :o)

  3. I build and remodel houses and have a great decorator that I love working with. She likes doing walls and cabinets the same color. However, we have recently redone a bathroom with white tub and toilet, stained cabinet, white trim and Benjamin Moore Jamesboro Gold Walls. Jamesboro Gold is not really gold. I have it on the walls in one of my bathrooms with Ben Moore Linen White trim. I also have Jamesboro Gold on the cabinets in my master bathroom

I think it would look great with your blue accents. Check out my latest blog post to see it on the walls in the bathroom we completed recently.

  4. Do you put on you make-up in this bathroom? If you do, think about how different colors will effect the way your skin tone looks while your putting on make-up...if you even wear make-up. I've always shied away from yellows, greens, and blues that had too much of the first two colors because of that. You end up putting on make-up in that light, and then when you go out into natural light, you can't figure out why your coloring is 'off.' Just a thought. Of course, anything with a pink-peach-red tone will totally enhance a woman's skin tone when she looks in the mirror...even a lavander is nice. Just a thought for your consideration. Cherry Kay
